Two key duties that apply to every apartment building and owners' association in the Czech Republic.
Since 26 October 2020 every newly installed water or heat meter must support remote reading. Meters without it can no longer be installed.
Act No. 362/2021 Coll., §25a
All older meters without remote reading must be replaced at the next calibration change at the latest — and no later than the end of 2026.

Decree No. 127/2024 Coll. shortened the calibration validity of mechanical water meters to 5 years (previously 6 years). Ultrasonic meters are exempt — 8 years.

Meters before replacement — without remote reading they had to be read by hand
An owners' association in the historic centre of Prague faced a meter replacement as the calibration ran out. The previous system needed physical readings — arranging times with every tenant, every year.
After the remote reading was installed the manager sees consumption across the whole building in real time. In the first month the system revealed a leak in one flat that the owner knew nothing about — the repair saving is estimated in the tens of thousands of crowns.

Act No. 362/2021 Coll. requires remote reading on all meters. The replacement must happen at the next expiry of calibration at the latest, and no later than 31 December 2026. Under the new Decree No. 127/2024 Coll. the calibration validity for mechanical water meters is 5 years.
It depends on the number of flats and meters. As a guide: a building with 15 flats and 44 meters comes to roughly 177,000 CZK excl. VAT for the installation plus 1,500 CZK a month for system management. We prepare an exact quote after a free consultation.
Flat meters (allocation meters) are owned by the association or the building. The association pays for the replacement, typically from the repair fund. The owners' assembly approves the decision.
Yes, someone must be present when a meter in a flat is replaced. One flat takes about 20–30 minutes. We can do a whole building in 1–2 days and we coordinate the times.
Every flat owner gets access to a web or mobile app showing their current meter reading, consumption history and any alerts. The manager sees the whole building. Data is available 24/7.

Yes, we supply and install heat meters (calorimeters) with the same remote reading. The price is the same as for water meters — 3,800 CZK / pc incl. calibration and installation.
