From 26 October 2020, every newly installed water meter or heat meter must be equipped with remote reading. Meters without this feature cannot be installed from this date.

All older meters without remote reading must be replaced at the latest during the next replacement due to calibration, but no later than the end of 2026.

The owners' association in the historic centre of Prague addressed the replacement of meters as their calibration was nearing expiry. The previous system required physical readings, annual scheduling of appointments with all tenants.

Act No. 362/2021 Coll. Mandates remote reading for all meters. Replacement must be completed no later than the next expiry of calibration, but at the latest by 31. 12. 2026. Under the new Decree No. 127/2024 Coll., the calibration validity period is 5 years for mechanical water meters.
It depends on the number of flats and meters. As a guide: a residential building with 15 flats and 44 meters comes to approximately 177 000 Kč excluding VAT for installation + 1 500 Kč per month for system management. We will prepare an exact quote following a free consultation.
Apartment water meters (ratio measuring devices) are the property of the building's owners' association or the apartment building. The costs of replacement are paid by the building's owners' association, typically from the repair fund. The decision is approved by the owners' assembly.
Yes, someone must be present during the water meter replacement in an apartment. Installing one apartment takes approximately 20-30 minutes. We can complete the installation for the entire residential building within 1-2 days and will coordinate the scheduling.
Each flat owner receives access to the web or mobile application, where they can view their current water meter reading, consumption history and any alerts. The manager sees the entire building. Data is available 24/7.
